With ‘I LOVE Network’, Gama Putra connects city residents/consumers with their city and with local entrepreneurs through storytelling. His start-up offers a lot of potential for all parties.

“Through storytelling on various media (online and paper magazine, social media) and activities such as walks and bike rides, we give city residents the opportunity to promote their city and local entrepreneurs,” explains Gama Putra.

Story of Gama

“It started in 2015, I had already lived in Belgium for 6 years. I came here from Indonesia for love and integrated very quickly. After 11 months I taught myself at Inburgering Limburg. After two years I went to study psychology in Leuven and worked at A.S. Adventure. People often asked me why I am always so happy. Then I replied: ‘Because I know a lot about my city and enjoy all the beautiful things.’ I wanted to do something with that. Via Facebook, Instagram and my blog ‘I LOVE Hasselt’ I started to share my stories and photos of the beautiful sides of Hasselt. My initiative quickly received media attention and local traders wanted to cooperate. So I decided to set up a sole proprietorship to share consumer experiences through various media.”

“After writing 400 stories, I realized that I couldn’t do this alone and that many fellow residents also like to put their city in the spotlight. I founded the non-profit organization My City Fan Club, together with Jane Pollard, senior project manager at IBM. Her experience is a great asset. Because I want to manage thousands of consumers with my project, digital working is necessary. Together with Hasselaren, we collected content that made the blog interesting for local entrepreneurs. In 2018 I LOVE Hasselt was transformed into I LOVE Network with support from StartIT@KBC.We implemented the concept for Brussels, Leuven, Antwerp and Limburg and received orders from companies such as Joyn, Colruyt and Belisol. We developed a training program for the VDAB and a paper magazine for seniors for the OCMW.In Hasselt we can Using ‘Babbelfiets’ to collect stories. Our community is like a big PR service that only offers benefits for the city and residents.”

My experience with the I Love Network

Thanks to the I Love Network I was able to publish my paintings on the Facebook and Instagram platform. I post 1 to 2 works every month. As a result, I reach about 100 followers on social media, which is not much yet, but it is already 99 more than before. I would like to thank Gama and his entire team for the professional support and help in getting some more media attention on the various I Love platforms.
